2 The question requires students to provide an explanation. Explanation of attitudes and actions, outcomes (e.g. why unsuccessful) or position (why (un)popular) etc. The mark scheme requires 4 elements to be present for full marks: Two explained factors Use of the source (maximum 5/10 if no source used) Use of own knowledge (maximum 5/10 if no additional knowledge deployed). The following table may help students to plan their response. Column 1 must be completed to identify a point of explanation (a factor).
