1 BELLWORK 1.List three things/events/ideas that contributed to Hoover’s unpopularity. 2.What was the Dust Bowl? 3.What were Roosevelt’s ideas of government? 4.What were Hoover’s ideas of government? 5.What are the similarities between the election of 1932 and the election of 2012? 6.THINKER: FDR becomes the new president in 1932. In your opinion, what do you think he should focus on FIRST? Unemployment, business, spending, etc. EXPLAIN your answer!

2 First Hundred Days When Roosevelt was elected, he implemented a series of new programs in the “first hundred days” of the administration, in which he met with Congress for 100 days. During those 100 days of law making, Roosevelt passed policies of bank reform, economic growth, women’s rights, & business/farm programs. Ever since, Presidents have been compared against FDR for what they accomplish in their first 100 days.

5 First 100 days: FDR vs. Obama You are now going to compare the “first hundred days” of FDR and Obama’s presidencies. As a class, one side will read about FDR’s legislation and the other will read about Obama’s. In a Venn diagram, you will list their similarities and differences. Be ready to discuss!
