Why Experiment? Why do we measure, graph and analyze data?

Human beings who have the ability to make accurate predictions about the future of natural systems have power.

The scientific method is a tool to develop theories that make accurate predictions about natural systems. Observe, question, hypothesize, experiment, compare, decide…

The scientific method demands scientific theories make bold predictions that can be verified. Repeatedly! The acceleration is exactly… the equilibrium force is exactly… there is a planet exactly here… the mass of an electron is exactly… the ionization energy of fluorine is exactly… seasons are a result of… corn grows best…

Experiments are designed to verify that scientific theories make accurate predictions.

Experimental data is collected and analyzed. The results are compared with the scientific theory’s prediction(s).

The comparison is the scientific evidence that compels other humans to either believe or not believe in the scientific theory.

Why Experiment? Experimental results compel consensus. They provide evidence of truth.
