Everywhere else (besides the United States) uses the METRIC SYSTEM.

The Metric System It is EASY! Uses meters instead of inches, feet, yards or miles. Based on the unit of 10 (not like: 12 inches=1 foot, 3 feet= 1 yd). 10 millimeter= 1 centimeter

How do I read a ruler in centimeters? Each little line represents 1 millimeter (mm) The bigger lines represent 1 centimeter (cm). Make sure you are using the correct side of the ruler

Let’s look at some basic conversions: 1 m = 100 cm 10 mm= 1 cm

Now It’s Your Turn… You will be estimating measurements of objects around the room. You will then use a ruler or meter stick to find the actual measurements
