2 CONTENTS INTRODUCTION WHAT IS WIND MILL? TYPES OF WIND MILL
Latest Technologies in Horizontal Axis windmill. SHIP WITH WINDMILLS and ITS WORKING. ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES CONCLUSION REFERENCE

3 INTRODUCTION Energy is measure of all kinds of work by human beings and nature. So the source is very important to extract the energy. We can broadly categorize these sources as: Non-renewable source. It is a source of energy where the energy extraction is limited for some finite period of time. Renewable source It is a source of energy where we can extract energy perpetually.

4   One of the renewable sources of energies is the WIND ENERGY.
Wind results from air in motion. Air in motion arises from a pressure gradient. Kinetic energy from the wind can be utilized to run wind mills to produce electricity.

5 WHAT IS WIND MILL? A wind mill is a device for converting wind power to mechanical rotation with a low velocity turbine designed for compressible fluid. The power in the wind can be extracted by acting on a moving wing, which converts some of that power in to torque on the rotor. The amount of power transferred depends on the wind speed and the mass of air swept by wing.

6 TYPES OF WIND MILLS Horizontal axis wind mill.
There are two types of windmills Horizontal axis wind mill. Vertical axis wind mill.

7 IMPROVED TECHNOLOGIES IN HORIZONTAL AXIS WINDMILL
Offshore windmill. Ship with windmill. The positioning of wind mills is the main difference between the above two.

8 Though offshore windmill has got high output of 3MW per windmill with wind availability of 97% of time. There is a total loss of 643.4GW of power annually because of non- availability of wind of 3% of time. This loss can be overcome by using a ship with wind mills by having of wind 100% of time.

9 SHIP WITH WINDMILLS and ITS WORKING.
Wind mills positioned over the moving ship is called as ship with wind mill. When wind blows into the windmill, it gets slowed down by the blades of the windmill, and gets caught or harnessed by them.

10 The wind, as it blows over the blades creates a lift that turns the blades.
A drive shaft is connected to the rotating blades that runs down to a generator located within the base structure of the windmill.

12 ADVANTAGES The windmills are said to cause noise pollution but if they are taken far into the sea ship this problem is eliminated. One more important point is that when the wind mills starts producing power the ship’s fuel supply can be stopped and energy from the turbine can be used to run. Implementing windmills on ship we can save land.

13 DISADVANTAGES To run ship we are losing fuels.
The maintenance of this ship is added to the investment.

14 CONCLUSION To reach the high demands of the rapidly developing generation we have to be as efficient as possible. If we are not able to use the freely available air, staying on land, then we have to go in to the sea, face the wind and crab the energy and generate power.
