4 Promotion Criteria Minimum units needed for promotion: – 10 th grade – 6 units – must include (1) in English and (1) in Math – 11 th grade - 12 units – must include (2) in English, (2) in Math, (1) in Science, and (1) in Social Studies – 12 th grade - 18 units – must include (3) in English, (2) in Math, (2) in Science, and (2) in Social Studies

5 Required Testing Class of 2020 must take Milestone Tests – 20% of grade in the following courses: Algebra I ● US History Geometry● Economics Physical Science● 9 th Grade Lit Biology● American Lit

6 Registration MMS teachers are currently making course recommendations using ASPEN. Students and parents can monitor the recommendations. Students were given elective choices from the course catalog at the MMS/MHS articulation meeting Tuesday and Wednesday. Parents will get last review the first week in May.

11 Review/See Recommendations Log into ASPEN – Click on “schedule” side tab – Click on “requests” Recommendations and requests should appear – if not, check the “exit entry mode” in the left hand corner of the screen.

12 HOPE SCHOLARSHIP Students who achieve a 3.0 GPA in high school core subjects and keep that GPA throughout college will receive HOPE scholarship equal to 90% of current tuition. Students in the Class of 2020 must receive at least four credits in courses from the following HOPE Rigor Courses – Advanced math (e.g., Advanced Algebra & Trig, Math III) – Advanced science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics) – Advanced foreign language (e.g., Spanish/French II) – AP/IB courses in core subjects – Courses taken at a unit of the University System of Georgia in core subjects (e.g., Dual Enrollment courses) Students who enter college with a 3.7 GPA and a 1200 SAT score (600 Critical Reading and 600 Math) or 26 Composite on ACT will receive 100 percent of tuition through the Zell Miller Scholarship program as long as they maintain a 3.3 GPA in college. Test requirements for the SAT & ACT must be in single administration.
