KENTUCKY TEEN INSTITUTE: OBJECTIVE The Kentucky Teen Institute (KTI) develops the leadership capacity of teens to lead the way to greater health in our Commonwealth. Throughout a dynamic nine-month process youth teams identify a health issue in their community, then design and execute a project to address it.Kentucky Teen Institute (KTI) In the process, KTI participants meet with their elected officials to share their unique vision for making Kentucky a healthier place for all. 3| Kentucky Teen Institute ©2014 Kentucky YMCA Youth Association St. James Team with Senator Thomas

KENTUCKY YMCA 4| ORIENTATION| ©2011 YMCA of the USA Mission: The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association develops engaged citizens and servant leaders, inspired to affect change in their school, community, Commonwealth, nation, and world. Through experiential learning, service, and community activism, the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association fosters critical thinking, leadership, and social responsibility in teens. The Kentucky Y works with 7,000 teenagers per year from 200+ schools in every part of Kentucky. IMPACT 7| PRESENTATION TITLE HERE | ©2011 YMCA of the USA After one year, trends are positive across knowledge, behaviors and attitudes, particularly in terms of teen participants’ helping themselves and helping others live healthy lives. Teen participants show increased interest in educating their families, neighbors, classmates, and faith communities in healthy living. These trends hold true for gender, rural and urban. “KTI taught me that I could have a voice in my community, that I could make a difference”
