This song, also referred to as “I’m So Sad and Lonely,” was most famously sung by Paul Biese, Louis Armstrong, and Bing Cosby. Sammy Davis Jr. was able to really modernize this song with drums, wind instruments and scatting. Piano joins the song later on, but the song is kept very fast-paced with the wind instruments and Davis’ scatting. Sammy exhibits more vocal range and a unique raspy tone compared to Sinatra and Martin; after all, he was considered to be the best “entertainer” of the bunch.
