We are going to learn how to make stencils – to create art work like this WE ARE ONLY DOING THIS ON PAPER – You must sign an agreement that you will NOT do this onto PUBLIC PROPERTY You can be arrested for GRAFFITI – this is only to be done IN SCHOOL – ON PAPER and canvas. We will read over the steps on how to do this together – it is tricky, so be patient – and get creative!!

Make sure your photograph is SIMPLE. Just use a FACE And make it fun and sensible

Open photoshop Make sure you can see your photo in the program. Make it smaller. Crop it if you have to Make the photo BLACK AND WHITE – Image – Mode - GRAYSCALE

Make your image a STAMP by clicking – FILTER – SKETCH – STAMP – click OK Your image should look like this:

Save your image. Save it to your ART folder – make sure you name it something that you will remember.

Open up WORD Insert a picture – find your image, and insert it into your word document. Make sure it fits on 1 page CHECK with Mrs Smith to make sure the image is OK If allowed – PRINT in black and white

Tape your image to some ACETATE paper Prepare your tools – BE SAFE, use a stanley knife in front of an ADULT and use a cutting board. Cut out all of the BLACK parts. Be careful and safe at all times

Now you will have a stencil. It should be able to be held in one hand – with nothing falling off.

Stick your stencil to your paper Choose your paint Roll your roller in the paint Roll your roller over your stencil Peel your stencil off carefully Allow to dry – Think about how you can re-use your stencil on the same piece of paper to create a different effect.
