6 “In this fourth and final voyage along the coasts of Sicily, the reader is led to the discovery of a magnificient land enriched by old architectures and the stories of the people who inhabited the island over the centuries. 7 Sicily, among the islands of Mediterranean Sea is a very charming land. Its seas and its coasts have always represented at the same time departure and arrival, destiny and fatality, beginning and end for sailors and migrants. Its lighthouses among the most numerous and extraordinary ones belong to a variegated heritage of signallings under the Italian Navy Sicily Zone Lighthouses Service.

8 A traditional italian lighthouse can be described for the following typological components: The lantern, wich contains the optics and the lighting devices; The tower and its staircase, running inside to the lanter.
