list all of the nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions. Then label the nouns common or proper.

2. My Summer Staycation
This past summer, I was very lazy. I spent most of my time off at home reading books on my Kindle. I read over 35 books!
I did go to western Pennsylvania a couple of times for Kiwanis events. I also joined a gym; we will see how that works out.
I took a couple of day trips with my mom: the Crossings outlets and New York City to see The Book of Mormon.
Oh! I almost forgot – I had a Pampered Chef party to restart my business. That was fun, but a lot of work.
I missed my Key Club kids, and yes, even some of my students. I’m glad to be back at school. Are you?

4. Pronouns
We can classify these three pronouns as personal, possessive, or demonstrative. Which is which?

5. Verbs
We can classify these verbs as action, linking, or helping. Which are which?

6. Adjectives What words are these adjectives describing?
Pronouns can act as adjectives. What about the pronouns we already identified? Which are acting as adjectives?

7. Adverbs
Which words are these adverbs describing? Remember, adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.

8. Prepositions
A prepositional phrase begins with the preposition and ends with the object of the preposition, which is a noun or pronoun. What are the prepositional phrases that go with the prepositions above?

9. Conjunctions
Do you remember the difference between coordinating, correlative, and subordinating conjunctions? Which is which from your list?

10. Your Assignment: Due tomorrow. Worth 50 points.
For homework, write a brief description (1 paragraph, 5 sentences minimum) about your summer vacation. This doesn’t mean that you had to actually go away somewhere. You may write about the things you did around the area or at home.
