1.  “Emphasis is on MISSION, not on TRIP”

3.  Traditional weeklong Mission Trip  Senior retreat.  Remain at Assumption and participate in scheduled events for seniors  In considering your choices, please reflect and give serious consideration to the opportunity this special week presents in terms of learning new things, serving others, stretching yourself, and making Mission Week a capstone senior year experience.

4.  Regional  Washington, DC area  International  Sites vary somewhat in terms of type of work, but all focus on helping the poor.  All include some type of cultural immersion and involvement within the local community.  All include prayer, service, community, and living simply.

5.  Generally, 12-15 students and 2 chaperones per site (only 6 students will go to Washington, DC)  The # of sites we go to determined by # of students who sign up.  Students DRAW for sites—”you don’t select the site, the site selects you.” You go where you are meant to be.

6.  Cincinnati, Ohio (with Franciscans for the Poor)  Auxier, Kentucky (Hand-in-Hand Ministries)  Solsberry, Indiana (Solsberry Farm)  Belize City, and Orange Walk Belize (with Muffles College and St. Catherine’s Academy)  Managua, Nicaragua (with Hand-in-Hand)  Washington, DC (with Sisters of Mercy Justice Network)

13.  Parents attend a mandatory meeting in September as well—no meeting, no go  After parent meetings, pay nonrefundable deposit and sign a commitment sheet and then we have a random site draw.  Attend mandatory formation days. If you don’t attend, you may not go on Mission Trip.

14.  Formation happens with all students and chaperones  Meetings are mandatory. No meeting, no mission trip.  Focus is the 4 cornerstones: o Prayer o Service o Community o Simple living  Culmination of formation is Blessing Ceremony
