2 Motivation comes from the Latin word "movere" which means a push or move Motivation is a willingness to do high business levels for achieving organizational goals as required by the effort's ability to satisfy some individual needs - Robbins & Coulters (1999)

3 Motivation can be defined as the power for someone who can cause the level of persistence and enthusiasm in carrying out an activity, whether sourced from within the individual itself (intrinsic), or from outside individuals (extrinsic) Motivation is the process by which behaviors are raised, directed, and maintained over time - Porter and Lawler (1968)
