2 2 2 January 2014 The national umbrella organisation CURAVIVA Switzerland supports care homes and social institutions in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in their task of improving the quality of life for their residents – the elderly, adults with disabilities and children and young people with special needs – in a holistic and comprehensive manner. It also aids them by representing their interests on a national level vis-a-vis political entities, authorities, administrations and other national organisations as well as the public. In this context, the national umbrella organisation, together with its cantonal associa- tions, seeks to support and promote the human and specialist skills of the people working in its member institutions. CURAVIVA Switzerland is active in this field on a professional and lobbyist level, delivers services, and provides educational oppor- tunities so that member institutions can fulfil their primary task in the best way possible. 3 3 3 January 2014 1 January 2003 Completion of the merger between Heimverband Schweiz (HVS) and Verband Christlicher Institutionen (VCI) to create «CURAVIVA – Organisation of Swiss Care Homes and Social Institutions» Organisation for the sector of care homes and social institutions with three strategic areas: -The Ageing -Adults with disabilities -Children and young people with special needs Organisation: Cantonal sections and institutions from the Geman-speaking region of Switzerland. History

4 4 4 January 2014 1 January 2006 Adaptation of the organisation structures to create the umbrella organisation -CURAVIVA Switzerland becomes the national organisation for employers and the sector (Switzerland and Liechtenstein) -Cantonal organisations are now collective members -Care homes and social care institutions are members of their cantonal organisations 2006 & 2007 The cantonal organisations of the French speaking region join CURAVIVA Switzerland 1 July 2008 Headquarter of CURAVIVA Switzerland is relocated from Zurich to Berne 26 june 2008 The cantonal organisation of the Italian speaking region joins CURAVIVA Switzerland

8 8 8 January 2014 In 2014 the care homes and social care institutions provided accommodation for approx. 117‘000 elderly persons, people with disabilities as well as children and young people with special needs. The care home area employs more than 130‘000 full-time personnel. The turnover of the care home area is at CHF 11 billion per year. Importance to the national economy

9 9 9 January 2014 CURAVIVA Switzerland: Is committed to the work in the political area and in this context represents the concerns and positions of its members on a nationwide level in Switzerland with regard to social, healthcare, education and social policies On the national level, campaigns for improvements in the legal, financial and organisational framework conditions of the care homes and social care institutions and in this task provides support for its members on a cantonal/regional level Provides the members with regular information on current technical, political and sector-related matters through various forms of communication (trade magazine, website, congresses, input-conferences, newsletters, parliamentary magazine, parliamentary monitoring, social media channels etc.) Services and benefits for the members

10 10 January 2014 Publishes the monthly trade magazine Curaviva containing articles on focal themes of topical interest (professional editorial team) Is in regular contact and seeks collaboration with domestic and foreign organisa- tions engaged in the areas of care homes, social care, education and healthcare Conducts an interchange with research institutions with regard to core topics of the national umbrella organisation and provides its members with access to the results of the research

11 11 January 2014 Is committed in the fields of occupational learning, education policy and human resources in the care home. Holds two Higer Professional Schools: - Higher Professional School for Social Education in Lucerne, hsl - Higher Professional School for communitarian animation in Lucerne, hfg - Higher Professional School for Child Education in Zug, hfk Organises further trainings for the employees working in care homes and social care institutions - Personal and social skills- Social education training - Leadership/Management- Nursing care & support - Catering/home economics
