ILC R&D Activities at KEK Superconducting Linac Development Beam-handling Technology Development
2
Superconducting Linac Development(1) Cavity Development 2 types of cavities being developed in parallel together with their couplers and tuners LL-type (ICHIRO) –possible higher gradient –single-cell tests showing high gradient >40MV/m TESLA-like –coupler / tuner improved from TESLA type Best result of TESLA-like cavity
3
Superconducting Linac Development(2) Module Development STF Phase1 –Module test –to be completed summer-autumn 2007 –2 cryostats each containing 4 TESLA-like cavities and 4 LL-type cavities ( 1 cavity each by end of March 2007) STF Phase2 –1 RF unit of ILC being planned –To be constructed in 2008-2009 STF Infrastructure –Electro-polishing facility Main part ready in Apr.2007
4
Infra-structure for SC-RF production Cryogenic compressor Cryogenic liquefier Control Room Klystron Gallery For EP, Clean Room
5
Beam-handling Technology Development(1) ATF Construction started in 1991 as a damping ring prototype for X-band linear collider and achieved a vertical emittance ~2pm Vital test bench for tuning studies, beam dynamics studies, and instrumentation R&D International collaboration of many labs
6
2006 Activities at ATF ILC Fast kicker development. (3ns fast rise time) Extraction kicker replacement. (ILC-like 3 bunch extraction) DR BPM upgrade program. (<1micron resolution. SLAC,et.al.) Laser Wire at EXT-line. (fast scan wire for ILC. RHUL,et.al.) FONT experiment. (digital feedback. Oxford,et.al.) nm BPM experiment. (17nm resolution achieved. SLAC,KEK)
7
Beam-handling Technology Development(2) ATF2 Extension of ATF for R&D of ILC final focus system International collaboration –Europe (laserwire, feedback, stabilization) –US (design, power supply, BPM circuits) –Asia (magnets, BPM, etc) Get the first beam in late 2008
