1. Shaniqua T. Scott A.K.A Nicky Shaniqua Hanton was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. I am the oldest of three and the oldest of eighteen grandchildren.

2. College Journey I have attended more than three colleges. I started at Johnson C. Smith, in Charlotte N.C. I returned to New York after one year, due to financial difficulties. I tried attending two community colleges there but my focus wasn’t school, it was making money to leave New York.

3. Motherhood November of 2003, I was blessed with my first child Michael. My children give me purpose, before them there was no me. I didn't know what I wanted to me or do with my life. Being a mother changed me, I became determined and driven to become a great role model for my child and younger cousins.

4. Back on My Education Journey I started attending Ashford University in July 2010 and graduated October 2013 with my bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. I took a break and now I'm back for my masters in Teaching and Learning with Technology. I'm now a pre-k teacher at Charlotte Preparatory School. I’ve been married for seven years, I am back in North Carolina and now a mother of four.

5. November 19 th will be my three year anniversary at CPS. I love being a teacher !! As a child in third grade my teacher use to tell us “it all about the foundation”. So I figured, in order for children to be great at their academics, I have to help build their foundation.

7. Older and Wiser “Time is not your friend!!” I am not sure where I heard the quote from but I learned that time waits for no one. I wasted to much time on things I have nothing to show for. I’m happy I moved out of New York and continued my education at Ashford. I hope to one day be an education consultant, to help students start on their path of success, sooner than later.
