Goal: Students will be able to graph quadratic functions in the form

Facts The graph of a quadratic function is a parabola. The lowest or highest point on a parabola is called the vertex The axis of symmetry divides the parabola into mirror images and passes through the vertex.

Graphing 1.Find the axis of symmetry using the equation 2.Find the vertex using the x value you find from the above step. 3.x-y chart with 5 values, one of them being the vertex 4.Plot and draw your parabola

a,b and c Identify the values of a, b, and c for the function in standard form.

Finding the vertex This formula will give you the x value for your vertex, then plug in and find the y value.
