Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org School Attendance Full day attendance required for participation in practice or contest that day Excused absences include scheduled medical appointments, court appearances, or religious obligations. Please help us teach your child that attendance is important by limiting excused absences.

Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org Academic Eligibility: Marshall High School will check academic progress at three week intervals. Students who are failing any course at any progress check will participate in Academic Intervention Assistance (AIA) until the instructor has indicated the student has raised the grade to passing. AIA may consist of Academic Assistance during lunch period, immediately after school, or a combination of both. Other intervention strategies may also be assigned by Marshall Public Schools staff. Students retain full eligibility while participating in AIA, but may be required to miss practices to attend AIA sessions. Students who are failing any course at the end of any 9 week grading period will be INELIGIBLE to participate in extra-curricular activities for two weeks/two events whichever is greater. Students may continue to practice while ineligible to participate, but will not be permitted to leave school early to travel with any team/group.

Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org Academic Eligibility: Students who receive a failing grade for any course at the end of the fourth quarter will be INELIGIBLE to participate in extra-curricular activities for two weeks/two events, whichever is greater the following fall. Students may continue to practice while ineligible to participate, but will not be permitted to leave school early to travel with any team/group. Students at Marshall Middle School who are failing any course at the end of the quarter will be ineligible for two weeks or two events whichever is greater. Students may continue to practice while ineligible to participate, but will not be permitted to leave school early to travel with any team/group. All academic eligibility will be based on the most recently completed 9 week grading period (this includes summer school). (i.e… a student who fails a class at the end of 1 st quarter, but passes all classes 2 nd quarter is fully eligible to begin the third quarter)

Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org Chemical Eligibility MOOD-ALTERING CHEMICALS Bylaw Twelve (12) months of the year, a student shall not at any time, regardless of the quantity: (1) use or consume, have in possession a beverage containing alcohol; (2) use or consume, have in possession tobacco; or, (3) use or consume, have in possession, buy, sell, or give away any other controlled substance or drug paraphernalia.

Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org Hazing and Harassment *SEXUAL/RACIAL/RELIGIOUS HARASSMENT/ VIOLENCE and HAZING A.Reference Bylaw 209.00: A student shall not engage in the sexual, racial, religious harassment, violence or hazing during the school year or any portion of an activity season that occurs prior to the start of the school year or after the close of the school year.

I will respect the rights and beliefs of others and will treat others with courtesy and consideration. 2. I will be fully responsible for my own actions and the consequences of my actions 3. I will respect the property of others. 4. I will respect and obey the rules of my school and the laws of my community, state and country. 5. I will show respect to those who are responsible for enforcing the rules of my school and the laws of my community, state and country.

Tiger Pride www.marshalltigers.org Online Behavior All students at Marshall Public Schools are entitled to a safe school environment. Therefore, all types of bullying, including cyberbullying are unacceptable. Cyberbullying is sending or posting harmful or cruel text and/or images using the internet or other digital communication devices. This generally occurs through the use of computers, cellular phones, and/or social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc). Cyberbullying and other inappropriate cyber behavior often occurs outside normal school hours. However, as part of an extra-curricular activity, participants are expected to uphold the standards laid out in the MPS and MSHSL Code of Conduct at all times. Inappropriate cyber behavior could include, but is not limited to: degrading opponents, officials, coaches, teammates, or other individuals; posting text or photos of sexual nature; posting text or photos of illegal activities (i.e. alcohol, drug, tobacco use); excessive vulgar language. Anyone who engages in inappropriate cyber behavior shall be considered to be in violation of the MPS and MSHSL Code of Conduct and shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action according to the provisions laid out by the MSHSL.

If you wish to have your child ride home with you after an event, you may sign them out with a member of the staff. If you wish to transport your child to an event, or have them ride with a third party, you must fill out the “letter of alternative transportation” form found on our web-site

Tiger Pride Medical Services Available Fortunate to have a full time Certified Athletic Trainer on hand thanks to Avera Marshall Catie Dahl and Daynna Larsen both have experience with our programs Use this service as the first screening for any bumps, bruises, or injuries.
