COMMUNICATION All sixth graders have been provided with an Assignment Book (AGENDA). Our team requires that the book be completed DAILY by the student. Please review it nightly. All homework will be marked in the planner.

LANGUAGE & LITERATURE Curriculum is aligned to Common Core Standards Units of Study: Writer’s Notebook/Personal Narrative, Independent Reading, Argument Writing, Literary Essay, Informational Writing Novels (2 whole-class reads) Reading Goal: Read 40 books by the end of the year – This is 10 books each marking period. Weekly Vocabulary – Greek & Latin Roots (Honors ELA-SAT Vocabulary Unit of Study)

6-1 Book Borrowing Etiquette 1.Clean hands before reading. 2. Protect books from younger children and pets. 3.A checkout procedure is in place in all classrooms. 4. A replacement fee will be assessed for lost or damaged books.

LATE WORK POLICY KEY POINTS: We expect students to turn in all work on the day it is due to receive full credit on the assignment. Quality late work MAY result in maximum of 75%. Poor quality will be redone. Students are expected to make up missed work after an absence. No work accepted after two weeks.

MISSING ASSIGNMENTS Please use Family Access to check current status of your child. Periodically your child may receive a missing assignment report. Please check planners. ONLY need a new Family Access form IF from out of District
