CONSCIENCE Part 2

I Corinthians 14 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

Romans 2 14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Conscience ONLY FOUND IN THE NEW TESTAMENT What is Conscience? Conscience is the voice of the human spirit

2 types of Conscience Good Evil

Good Conscience Good – (gk.) Noble, Honorable, affecting the mind agreeably, comforting (peace), confirming (bears witness) BORN AGAIN HUMAN SPIRIT

Romans 9:1 1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost (My spirit confirming me in the Holy Ghost)

Romans 8:16 16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit(conscience), that we are the children of God: (The Holy Spirit confirming himself with our conscience)

Romans 8:13 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the spirit (your conscience) do mortify (kill off) the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Evil Conscience Evil – (gk.) Full of labors, annoyances, hardships, pressed and harassed, bringing toil, causing pain and trouble VOICE OF GUILT (self-righteous, i.e.. Pharisees)

Hebrews 10 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

I Peter 3 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us [not the putting away of the filth of the flesh(evil conscience-full of labors/self-righteous), but the answer of a good conscience toward God, (my spirit being alive)] by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

6 Conditions of a Good Conscience Pure Defiled Weak Strong Seared (callous) Tender

II Timothy 1:3 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

Pure Conscience PURE –(gk.) clean, clear; to prune so as to bear fruit; purified by fire: free from corrupt desire, sincere, genuine, free from every admixture of what is false, free from guilt

I Timothy 3 8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

II Corinthians 4 1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

I Timothy 1 4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 5 Now the end of the commandment is love (agape) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

I Peter 2 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

Romans 13 AMP 1 LET EVERY person be loyally subject to the governing (civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God [by His permission, His sanction], and those that exist do so by God's appointment. 2 Therefore he who resists and sets himself up against the authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged [in divine order]. And those who resist will bring down judgment upon themselves [receiving the penalty due them].

Romans 13 3 For civil authorities are not a terror to [people of] good conduct, but to [those of] bad behavior. Would you have no dread of him who is in authority? Then do what is right and you will receive his approval and commendation. 4 For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, [you should dread him and] be afraid, for he does not bear and wear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant to execute His wrath (punishment, vengeance) on the wrongdoer.

Romans 13 5 Therefore one must be subject, not only to avoid God's wrath and escape punishment, but also as a matter of principle and for the sake of conscience. 6 For this same reason you pay taxes, for [the civil authorities] are official servants under God, devoting themselves to attending to this very service.

Romans 13 7 Render to all men their dues. [Pay] taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor is due. 8 Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one's fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].

Romans 13 9 The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet (have an evil desire), and any other commandment, are summed up in the single command, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.

Romans 13 10 Love does no wrong to one's neighbor [it never hurts anybody]. Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the Law. 11 Besides this you know what [a critical] hour this is, how it is high time now for you to wake up out of your sleep (rouse to reality). For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah).

Romans 13 12 The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light. 13 Let us live and conduct ourselves honorably and becomingly as in the [open light of] day, not in reveling (carousing) and drunkenness, not in immorality and debauchery (sensuality and licentiousness), not in quarreling and jealousy.

Romans 13 {make no provision for [indulging] the flesh}{[put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).} 14 But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and {make no provision for [indulging] the flesh} {[put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).}
