Establishing & Equipping a Station VHF or UHF station HF station
2
VHF or UHF Transceivers Base station Typically contain thier own power supply to convert 120 VAC to something used by the circuitry
3
VHF or UHF Transceivers Mobile station Operate from 12 – 14VDC From the vehicle electrical system or an external power supply
4
VHF or UHF Transceivers Portable, hand held station Operates from internal batteries, external battery pack, Or vehicle electrical system

Simplex & Repeater Operation
8
HF Station Some history: Early stations used separate transmitter & receiver The operator manually switched between transmitting and receiving Vacuum tube transmitters have resonant circuits that have to be tuned for the frequency before operating Despite that, they are still rich in harmonic content and require a low-pass filter to attenuate those harmonics
