3. August 1987 Vinny opens Middletown, CT with less than $200,000! Laurie, his fiancé, designs the club on a piece of paper for the builder. The Fitness Connection Vinny opened and closed the facility every day. He knew everyone’s name.

5. There is no cleaning company! This guy was often spotted cleaning toilets!

6. January 1988 Vinny changes the name to Gold’s Gym!

7. The Franchise Name brings a lot of attention to a great club! With attention came members and profits!

8. Vinny & Laurie have their first child. New Baby brings babysitting services Vinny and Lauire get married and become partners. Laurie begins working for the gym.

9. May 1989 We open the 2 nd location. (Right next door to ESPN.) Bristol, CT

10. Gold’s Gym of Bristol Unlimited personal training. Juice bar is a hit! Carpeted Studio First of it’s kind; cardio deck Nice showers State of the art facilities. Larry becomes a partner!

11. Fairfield, CT 1990 the company opens it’s 3 rd location and it’s first in Fairfield County.

12. 1990 Fairfield Opens Huge Juice Bar 20,000 square feet No treads, but a beautiful track Nutritionanyalsis Chiropractor Hairdresser Restaurant

13. Fairfield, CT Club is wildly successful! Company decides it’s time to grow! Company has the profits to do it!

14. Summer 1994 Company takes on another partner, you know him as Jimmy. The decision is made to open a club within 6 miles of Fairfield to avoid license problems

15. Stratford 1994 The company hires architect to design a first of it’s kind health club; something no- one has ever done. Architect becomes most popular nationwide after he designs Stratford.

16. Stratford Sets The Pace The club is setting the pace for membership sales and staffing. A position of assistant manager is created and the first assistants are hired!

17. We’re On The Move! The decision is made to build a new building and move the Middletown club across town to the Cromwell market.

18. Cromwell, CT Brand new club with abundant parking. Fix all old facility problems! Club is an immediate success and begins to rival the revenues of Stratford Club

19. The Name Change The hardest decision we had to make so far! Greg says, “It’s like naming a baby, once we come up with the name it will all fall together. Larry comes up with the name “The Fitness Edge on the way to vacation!”

20. The Fitness Edge of Norwalk Competition is scared to death as The Fitness Edge now becomes mobile. With no license to hold us back we can go anywhere we want!! The possibilities are limitless!

21. Norwalk, CT (Early 1997) 3 Floor Layout is New and Exciting! Spinning is the highlighted class; no group exercise. Easy off and on I-95 theme is solidified! Personal Training Skyrockets! Norwalk sets the trends!

22. The Fitness Edge Vows To Open 1 New Club Per Year!

23. Westport, CT; 1998 Women’s market is being capitalized on by other clubs; we know we can do it better! Beautiful Locker Rooms Club opens and keeps pace with Norwalk in Personal Training!

24. Milford, CT; 1999 Opens with 3 group exercise rooms! Swings right into personal training selling $30,000 a month! Awesome Locker rooms!

25. Purchase Competitor We make a decision while driving around Norwalk to purchase our largest competitor. Know one thinks it can happen; the owner has said he won’t sell We buy W.G. in August of 2000. Vinny says we should call it a Super Club!

26. 30,000 square feet of workout space Over 100 pieces of cardiovascular 1,200 square feet babysitting room! The Fitness Edge Super Club

36. Birth of The Edge Fitness Clubs In March of 2006, The Fitness Edge made one of its hardest and greatest decisions to date. The health club industry was changing. There were two types of Health Clubs: a very low cost health club with no services or a very high priced Health club with many services. The Fitness Edge decided we were going to offer a low priced health club membership yet retain our wonderful reputation of the best classes, personal training services and daycare. The decision birthed The Edge Fitness Clubs.. We decided that 3 of our six locations would now become The Edge: Fairfield, Stratford and Milford. Once again, The Edge pioneered the low priced, full service model. In 2008, after discovering the success of The Edge Fitness Clubs, the company decided that we would close The Women’s Fitness Edge and combine it with our Norwalk Superclub and create The Edge Fitness Club in Norwalk/Westport. At that time, the Fitness Edge of Greenwich became The Edge of Greenwich
