Class Expectations The 4 P’s
3
8th Grade Health “4 P’s” Handout
We have three behavior expectations in our classroom: be prompt, polite, prepared and productive. The students are responsible for meeting these expectations. These were created to help you get the most out of your educational experiences. Time on task equals learning and success.
4
PROMPT Please be in the classroom and seated before the bell rings,
Meet your deadlines; work is due when it is due. This is your responsibility. Students are responsible for obtaining and completing make-up work. Change tasks quickly and quietly, Follow directions the first time they are given.
5
POLITE Allow others to speak without talking over them,
Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself and out of the aisle, Treat teachers, administrators, substitutes, guest speakers, classmates and others with respect and kindness, Please limit moving around the room, Cursing, teasing, name-calling and putdowns are not appropriate, and will be dealt with severly. You are expected to behave like young adults.
6
SUCCESS STARTS WITH PREPARATION
PREPARED Bring the necessary materials to class everyday. We only have 45 minutes to learn so trips to your locker or borrowing will take away from your educational time. SUCCESS STARTS WITH PREPARATION
7
PRODUCTIVE Be a producer of knowledge not just a consumer.
Share your unique insights and perspectives with your classmates. Cultivate a classroom environment of creativity and multiple intelligences.

Classroom Procedures Tardies-
When a student arrives to the room late it causes a disruption that is not fair to others. Please refer to page 8 in your Student Agenda for consequences for being tardy. Entering Class- Students are expected to come in quietly and complete the ‘Do Now’ activities. The first three minutes of class will be silent time dedicated to Agenda entries and attendance. Paper Heading- A heading of first and last name, date, period and assignment title will be placed in the upper right hand corner of the paper unless otherwise directed. Writing must be legible.

Restroom/ Hall Passes- Don’t ask
Restroom/ Hall Passes- Don’t ask. Before school, break, passing time and lunch are ideal times for taking care of personal needs. Emergencies will be handled on an individual basis. Textbooks- Textbooks are an integral part of our curriculum and you will be using them on a regular basis. However, books may not be taken from the classroom. Textbooks are available for check out from the Library. Need help? Have a comment?- If a student has something to add to a discussion or has a question, you must raise your hand and wait to be called upon. This allows class to run smoothly and helps me be a better facilitator.
10
Assignments- All students will place completed assignments in the ‘IN’ basket. These will be graded and returned as soon as possible. Graded assignments will be passed back at an appropriate time during class as directed by the teacher. If a student does not have the work at the time it is due, he/she must complete it as soon as possible and turn it in.
11
Reading Book- All students are required to have a recreational reading book at all times. Upon completion of assignments students should read for fun until further instructions are given. Fire Drill- Follow teacher directions, NO TALKING. Line up single file, alphabetically, facing away from the school and towards your teacher.
12
Supplies and Chores- You are free to use supplies as needed, only take what you need. Also, this is your classroom, be neat and clean up after yourselves. Dismissal- Class is over when the teacher dismisses you. Please do not start packing early. This disrupts others and will cause the class to be held back. Discipline- I firmly believe that if students are living up to the expectations there will be no problems. However, the disciplinary procedures are stated on page 18 in your agenda and will be followed if necessary. Students are responsible for knowing these.

What to do if you were absent…
First; do not interrupt class! We have to begin a new lesson and cannot delay to address one student. It is your responsibility to see me before school or at break the day you return. Absent assignments are counted as ‘missing’ until they are done. Check the ‘Week at a Glance’ board in the room.
