1 “Stamp Prices Set To Drop 2 Cents In April, Putting USPS In Sticky Situation”

2 The U.S. Postal Service is in dire financial straits. If the price of stamps goes down as scheduled in April, it could cost the already hemorrhaging post office $2 billion per year. The planned cost reduction from 49 cents to 47 cents marks the expiration of legislation passed in 2014 that raised the price of stamps for two years in order to ease the post office's financial woes. The law imposed an "exigent (needful) surcharge for mailing products and services," which raised the price of stamps by three cents to help USPS raise $4.6 billion in revenue. The Postal Service is desperate for Congress to maintain current stamp prices. "The exigent surcharge granted to the Postal Service last year only partially alleviated our extreme multi-year revenue declines resulting from the Great Recession," said the Postmaster General in a statement. According to CNN Money, the last time stamp prices fell was 97 years ago in July 1919, when first-class stamp prices dropped from three cents to two cents.

3 In Other News  NASA astronaut Scott Kelly is back on Earth. Kelly and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov landed late Tuesday night in the Kazakhstan desert, NASA and Russian mission control said. Kelly could be seen pumping his fist and giving a thumbs up after being hoisted from the Russian Soyuz spacecraft that brought the trio back. All three underwent field tests immediately after leaving the spacecraft. Kelly has completed a nearly yearlong mission on the International Space Station, the longest any U.S. astronaut has been in space.  Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump notched big wins across the South on Super Tuesday as they extended their leads for their party's nomination. On the Republican side, Trump has won seven states: Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Vermont, Massachusetts and Georgia. Sen. Ted Cruz won his home state of Texas, eked out a surprise victory in Oklahoma and won the caucuses in Alaska. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio finally got his first outright win by taking the Minnesota caucuses. In the Democratic race, Clinton also captured seven states: Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Massachusetts and her onetime home of Arkansas. Sen. Bernie Sanders took his home state of Vermont and also picked up wins in Oklahoma's primary and the Colorado and Minnesota caucuses.
