PARCC Research Simulation Task

Research Simulation tasks involve the gathering and inclusion of important information from several texts in various media formats on a particular topic or question. In other words, citing information from various texts or videos to help support your response. Research simulation tasks include taking notes, as providing a list of sources.

While traveling on my journey as a trader, I would experience “cataracts, or steep rapids” (Interactive Map of Ancient Egypt). These cataracts would make it difficult for me to travel the Nile River after trading with Kush. Any information you use from the texts or videos need to be in quotes.

Sources for the task can include quotes from: Videos Articles about a Topic Readings Primary Source (or written as a first hand account)

You have read two texts and watched a video describing the topography of Ancient Egypt. All 3 include information about the dangers of traveling in Egypt. “Chapter 7 – Geography and Early Settlement of Egypt, Kush, and Canaan” (Chapter Notes) “Egyptian Trade” Article (Primary Source Reading) “Five Facts about Ancient Egypt – Geography for Kids” (Video)

Take on the role of a trader in Ancient Egypt. Make an entry in your travel journal that tells what you have experienced in your travels and the dangers you may have encountered that day. Cite information from at least two of the sources to support your response.
