2. Narrative The Pueblo Interagency Dispatch Zone 2015 fire season turned out to be slightly below average year for fires and acres burned. The Kansas Counties and Department of Defense lands dominated large fire activity with 28 fires for 482,505 acres. Colorado – Elbert County reported the only large fire in September at 610 acres. It was the first time in 6 years and the third time in 15 years that the center did not host a large fire incident management team. Nationally the fire season started late but maintained PL 4-5 for several months. The zone supported the US and Canada with aviation, crews, equipment and overhead. On August 9 th the center had 5 crews, 2 helicopters, 58 engines and over 100 overhead committed to out of zone incidents. In addition we were able to fill 69 overhead trainee assignments providing experience and certification opportunities for agencies within our zone. At this time the center has two vacancies the Center Manager and an initial attack dispatcher. We hope to have them filled and in place by the spring of 2016.
