1 Change of Pay Dates for the 2016/2017 Fiscal Year Washington School District Payroll Department
2
2 What is the change? The pay dates for the 2016/2017 fiscal year will be moved back one week. Shifting the pay cycle is necessary every five to six years, because leap year has an additional day. Instead of the first payday of the fiscal year being July 8, the first payday will be on July 15.
3
3 Why is the change necessary? This change is to ensure that the district remains compliant with the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR) for Arizona School Districts. This change also ensures that there are 26 biweekly paydays and that the last payday of the fiscal year is issued on the last Friday of the fiscal year.
4
4 Counting back from the final payday, Friday, June 30 th, the first payday is July 15 th
5
5 Who is affected by this change? All district employees are affected because all employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis. 12-month employees will be the first employee group affected by the change in the bi-weekly pay schedule. Employees working in summer jobs will also be affected by the change in pay dates. Less-than-12-month employees are paid on the bi- weekly pay schedule based on their start date, which varies from year to year.
6
6 What action is being taken? The “Change in Pay Dates” information will be posted on the intranet. Employees will receive email reminders about the change. Principals and department supervisors will be asked to provide this information to employees at their sites.
