The Course Description Student continue to build on the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills introduced in Japanese 1. Students will be able to interact with Japanese people in a meaningful manner in everyday situations. Students will learn to write some of the basic kanji characters. Reading styles of Kun and On for kanji characters are introduced. The informal style of speech is also introduced. Students will be encouraged to explore the relationship between the language and the culture

Course objectives By the end of this course, students will be able to: Describe their feelings about impressions of people, places, sports and every day activities. Talk about physical ailments and health issues. Express themselves appropriately in a restaurant Handle a part-time job at a shop in a Japanese speaking community Read and write 121 basic kanji characters3

Class participation is an essential part of the class

Class room policy Respect classmates and the teacher Being polite to others in your words and actions Keep your electronic devices in your backpack when a class is in session Gum chewing, eating, drinking (except water), feet on or sitting on desks, putting on makeup are not permitted in class because they are considered inappropriate in a Japanese classroom Work from other classes may be confiscated
