Tapscott Redux 4 Themes: Collaboration, Transparency, Sharing - Networked intelligence, Empowerment Tapscott stands on the shoulders of giants Teaching/Academic administration & support hasn’t changed even though the world has Transparency requires a balance - yes openness, but building blocks are necessary – going naked without a strategy is not good. IP issue - there will likely always be discrepancy as to who gets to view - “membership has its privileges” - as a publically-assisted institution – should we limit membership in our OLC? Transparency/Sharing: the biggest stumbling blocks; the blessing and the curse – the difference between private and public doesn’t exist with Net Gens. Our OLC could deliver its own TED Talks to the Mohawk Community Idealistic doesn’t always translate well Copyright vs. copyleft - Tapscott advocates that we get over our control issues and think about the common good. Walk the Walk : The only thing constant is change: Agrarian Age – Industrial Age – The Age of Networked Intelligence.

Thought Rock (for profit OLC) Judi Par é We saw: 2 clicks :10 seconds to find whatever we needed. Range of formats: video, podcasts, live demos etc. Exhibit Hall was interesting – could be an “Employer Hall” at Mohawk. Experts present in short blasts of interesting and thought provoking material. This is how are students will learn when they are “at work” in the future. Takes a team of 6+ people to develop such an online learning community. One person to maintain it.
