Pre-Evaluation Conference Conducted August 18, 2015 STING Schedule
2
Purpose of the Pre-Evaluation Conference To inform individuals being evaluated of expectations. To review/discuss performance standards, indicators and appraisal rubric. To discuss professional learning opportunities which align to the performance standards.
3
Orientation Each evaluated staff member should have attended an orientation session at New Teacher Orientation or in a STING session. It is necessary to sign off on attendance in the platform.
4
Components of Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) Teacher Assessment on Performance Standards (TAPS) – TAPS provides evaluators with a qualitative, rubrics-based evaluation method by which they can measure teacher performance related to quality Performance Standards. – Observations by credentialed evaluators, including four walk throughs and two formative observations as well as documentation of a teacher’s practice, shall inform two Formative Assessments and one Summative Performance Evaluation each year. (walk through…walk through…formal…walk through…walk through…formal) – All 10 TAPS Performance Standards shall be rated on the two Formative Assessments and the one Summative Performance Evaluation.
5
Components of Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) Student Surveys of Instructional Practice (3 rd -12 th ) – Student surveys shall be administered annually to gather perception data regarding teacher practice. – Student survey results will inform the rating of Performance Standards 3, 4, 7 and 8 on the Formative Assessment, if available. – Student survey results shall inform the rating of Performance Standards 3, 4, 7 and 8 on the Summative Performance Evaluation.
6
Components of Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) Student Learning Objective Measures (SLO) – For teachers of non-tested subjects whose students are not assessed using state assessments, this component is comprised of LEA developed and DOE approved Student Learning Objectives. Student growth shall be calculated annually based on SLO assessment data. Student Growth Percentile Measures (SGP) – For teachers of tested subjects (4 th -8 th grade Milestone and high school EOTC), this component is comprised of student growth percentile/value-added measure which shall be calculated annually for student growth based on state assessment data.
7
Putting It All Together TAPS will be leading data and will count 50% of the total evaluation system. Student growth will be lagging data and will count 50% of the total evaluation system.
8
Teacher Effectiveness Measure (TEM) When TKES components come together (TAPS and Student Growth, it will result in a TEM for each evaluated individual.

Reviewing Performance Appraisal Rubrics The rubrics are behavioral summary scales that describe acceptable performance levels for each Performance Standard. Ratings of Level IV, Level III, Level II, or Level I shall be provided for each of the ten Performance Standards on each Formative Assessment. If sufficient evidence is not present to rate a teacher’s performance on any of the ten Performance Standards, evaluators may request documentation relevant to identified standard(s). Consistently vs Continually – “consistently “ occurs at regular intervals – “continually” occurs with high frequency, appropriately and over time
13
Self Assessment Each evaluated staff member should have completed a self assessment in the platform. Please go back in and “share” your self assessment if you are showing “in progress.” Complete by 8/19. Based on review of current self assessment data, TAPS 2014-2015 observation, and survey data collected through Title I, standards 4 (Differentiated Instruction), 5 (Assessment Strategies), 6 (Assessment Uses) and 8 (Academically Challenging Environment) are the areas that evaluated staff members flagged as needing the most support. If you would like to have an individual conference to discuss your self assessment specifically, please contact an evaluator.
14
Professional Development STING, Learnapalooza, Extended Planning, Grade Level Planning, Consultants, TKES platform tutorials, etc. will be formats utilized to continually improve in all ten Performance Standards this school year. Please do not hesitate to form independent Learning Communities to strengthen instructional practice. Our instructional coaches can facilitate such groups if necessary. Tap into our school’s resource library for more/deeper information on any of the ten Performance Standards. Never stop learning!
