York Suburban High School Graduation Requirements 23.8 Credits are required to earn your High School diploma. In addition, you must meet all additional requirements.

Graduation Requirements English – 4 Credits Satisfactory completion of: English I English II English III English IV Satisfactory completion of an acceptable research paper each year.

Graduation Requirements Social Sciences - 3 Credits Satisfactory completion of: American Cultures Global Studies United States Studies

Graduation Requirements Mathematics – 3 Credits Satisfactory completion of three full year math courses. College bound students should complete a minimum of Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry.

Graduation Requirements Science – 3 Credits Satisfactory completion of: Biology 2 additional science credits College bound students should plan to complete a minimum of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Graduation Requirements Wellness Successful completion of Wellness which combines Health and Physical Education during 9 th grade.

Graduation Requirements Physical Education Successful completion of six semesters of Physical Education. Note: It is not possible to take two physical education courses at the same time. If you fail physical education, you are required to attend summer school or be retained in your present grade. Without summer school, it will take 5 years to graduate.

Graduation Requirements Safety Education It is not necessary to have your permit at the time that you complete this course Behind the Wheel practice driving – once you have obtained your driving permit, you may request this opportunity for a fee.

Graduation Requirements Computer Applications – ½ credit Students may test out of this course requirement either at the YSMS or at the YSHS or you may complete this requirement by taking the course in high school.

Graduation Requirements Electives – 9 Credits 2 Credits of Arts and Humanities. Courses in the World Language, Art, Music, Theater, Social Studies or English electives. College bound students should plan to successfully complete two levels of the same World Language.

Graduation Requirements Students must demonstrate proficiency in Reading by achieving a Proficient or Advanced level on the 11 th grade PSSA or by successfully completing English IV. Please note a student may be required to successfully complete the Academic Literacy course.

Graduation Requirements Students must demonstrate proficiency in Writing by achieving a Proficient or Advanced level on the 11 th grade PSSA or by successfully completing English IV. Please note a student may be required to successfully complete the Writing Strategies course.

Graduation Requirements Students must demonstrate proficiency in Math by achieving a Proficient or Advanced level on the 11 th grade PSSA or by successfully completing Algebra I and Geometry or Essentials of Math.

Graduation Requirements Students must successfully complete the requirements of the Graduation Project which is the cumulative research process demonstrated by submission of an acceptable English III research project.

Promotion to Grade 10 To become a sophomore, you must successfully complete a minimum of 5 credits which include English I, Wellness and two credits from the following areas Math, Science and Social Studies.

Important Information Achieve to the best of your ability at all times. Grades earned in 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th will appear on your transcript. Your cumulative GPA is based upon all four years of grades earned.

Important Information Your transcript is seen by Colleges, Employers, the Military and scholarship agencies. Your transcript is important to you now and also in the future. Your future plans could be effected by your high school achievement.
