8
Works Cited VS Bibliography Works Cited: Sources listed in a Works Cited page must be referenced in your essay. Bibliography: Any source you researched, does not necessarily need to be in your essay.
9
Citations In-Text Citations: Citations within the essay itself. You should have one – two citations per body paragraph Works Cited Citations: Entire MLA information listed in the back of your essay with sources alphabetized. ALL sources referenced in your essay must be listed in your Works Cited page.

13
Direct Quotes in a Citation Sandwich When citing a direct quote from an author, please put the person’s quote in quotation marks (“ “) and set-up who the person is and why there are an expert in the field. Then analyze how this of education, Example: Set – Up: According John Williams, a leading expert from Harvard in the politics of education, school districts that have linked teacher pay to student performance have not seen any significant increases in test scores: Evidence: “ In a 2008 national survey conducted by the US Department of Education, school districts that linked teacher pay to student test performance saw little or no gains in test scores across the district. The survey also indicated in 90% of these districts, teacher morale had hit rock bottom” (Williams, 75). Analysis: Williams supports the argument teacher pay linked to test scores does not positive effect student performance. If anything, the 2008 national survey proves that the only outcome of linking salaries to exam performance causes an increase of stress on teachers and students.

Sources and Terms Make sure to you identify sources. EX: If you are referencing a person/organization as a source, give some context who he/they are: -Expert? –Author? –What gives this person/group ethos? Please clarify terms for the reader because the reader is “clueless.” Anytime you cite new information, give credit where credit is due with a citation.
