Mainpro is Evolving In the years ahead Mainpro will undergo a series of phased revisions to ensure that it continues to: Meet the changing landscape of family medicine Foster quality improvement and improved patient care Provide user-friendly resources, tools, and services to Mainpro participants
3
Mainpro is Evolving The goal is to provide a Mainpro that remains current with enhanced flexibility and support to better meet the changing learning needs of family physicians in Canada
4
Two Important Changes to Mainpro Phase I: Starting January 2013, all Mainpro participants will be required to: o Report a minimum of 25 credits per year of the five- year Mainpro cycle; o Make all Mainpro credit submissions online
5
Why Annual Minimum Credit Reporting? Encourages Mainpro participants to engage in and report their CPD activities on a regular basis Enables College staff to provide more efficient support to Mainpro participants in a timely manner
6
Why Annual Minimum Credit Reporting? Provides consistency with requirements of many certification and licensing organizations in Canada and abroad Provides reporting consistency for Mainpro participants across the country
7
Why Online-Only Credit Reporting? Makes submitting CPD credits faster, easier, and more secure Results in fewer incidents of illegible or incomplete submissions Helps to encourage Mainpro participants to keep their records up-to-date

Frequently Asked Questions Q:Does the annual minimum requirement affect the total number of credits that I must accrue and report over the five-year cycle? A:No. The minimum of 250 credits, at least 125 must be Mainpro-M1 and/or Mainpro-C, remains unchanged.
13
Frequently Asked Questions (cont’d) Q:If I report all of the minimum required credits prior to the end of my cycle, will I still need to report 25 credits in the remaining years of my cycle? A:Yes. All participants will be required to earn and report a minimum of 25 credits in each year of their five-year cycle, regardless of whether they have achieved the minimum cycle requirement of 250 credits.
14
Frequently Asked Questions (cont’d) Q:What happens if I fail to earn and report 25 credits in a given year of my cycle? A:Individuals who do not meet the annual minimum in a given year will be entered into a credit validation program in the subsequent year of their cycle. Those in a validation program will be required to send in documentation to support every credit they submit.
