In Northern Europe, growing wealth supported Renaissance ideas. Northern Renaissance thinkers merged humanist ideas with Christianity. The invention of the movable type printing press, by Johannes Gutenberg, and the production and sale of books (ex. Gutenberg Bible) helped to disseminate ideas.
