2. The Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) For class today, you learned about and reflected on the meaning of the Cultural Revolution in China. You learned… –Following the failure of the Great Leap Forward, Mao began to believe that the Communist Party in China was being threatened by pro-capitalist bourgeois elements. –In response, he launched the Cultural Revolution Social movement designed to further cement communism in the country by removing capitalist elements from Chinese society. –In doing so it involved major changes to Chinese politics, economics, and social life.
