However, it is often forgotten that to ensure a sustainable and efficient Smart City, there must be an understanding of the adaptation of technological projects to the specific city needs and objectives. Having said that, implementing Smart Cities requires the right support, knowledge and know-how to ensure Project and City Sustainability. Here at the ESCEF, we invite you to spend a day with experts and current users of Smart Cities to further understand the investment that is needed to make this idea into a sure reality. This topic is set to give other speakers and the audience an insight into what Malaysia plans to achieve and how far Malaysia has come in the Smart Cities sphere Speakers are encouraged to speak on the following: Why Smart Cities for Malaysia? Malaysia has started to invest in Smart Cities, elaborate on what Malaysia has already implemented What is envisioned for Malaysia as a Smart Country Is Malaysia/your city ready to be a Smart Country/City? In your opinion, out of all the areas, what does the country need to improve on to embrace Smart Cities? Security? Infrastructure? Transport and Traffic? What is Malaysia’s constraints when implementing Smart Solutions? 4 Topic The How – To’s of implementing a Smart City: Expert tips and experience in Smart Cities Implementation This topic will be the beginning of the exchange between foreign and local cities, government authorities and users This topic will endeavor to answer some questions and begin discussions on implementing a Smart City in Malaysia. What is discussed here should relate to Malaysia’s constraints in implementing Smart Cities Speakers are encouraged to speak on the following: From what was discussed in the previous topic, what is the most important when it comes to implementing smart cities? Smart Governance? Smart Solutions? Any suggestions on improvements with the way current Smart Cities are being planned, developed or implemented? 5 Topic How does a city ensure Project Sustainability in a Smart City? This topic should give other speakers and the audience an insight into Malaysia’s doubts and how other entities can help this issue and allow for Malaysia to move forward in adopting Smart Cities This topic is also set out to offer Malaysia options in successfully implementing a Smart City. Speakers are encouraged to speak on the following: Thoughts on what a Smart City should be – eg. resilient even in tough economic environments, zero footprint Given budgetary constraints and Malaysia’s current economic status, what are your thoughts on the rate of adoption and implementation for Smart Cities as a developer, government authority, local municipal and user? Incentivize the implementation and development of Smart Cities. Discuss. This topic will introduce technology know-how in implementing Smart Cities Speakers and members of the audience will be able to learn about what makes a City truly connected, efficient and self sustaining.
