Microsoft word is a common type of application software called WORD PROCESSING Documents that can be created in word include letters, reports, memos, newsletters.

The default orientation of a Word 2010 document is Portrait. You can change the orientation to Landscape. To change the page orientation, on the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Orientation, and then click Landscape.

Quick Style is a set of formatting options that you can use to format text in your document. The Styles gallery in Word 2010 includes built- in Quick Style sets, in the Styles group on the Home tab. You can use a Quick Style set from the Styles gallery; apply it to your document, and save the set as a new Quick Style. For example, you can use the Title and Subtitle styles to change the appearance of the titles and subtitles in a document.

To select a theme, on the Page Layout tab, in the Themes group, click Themes, and then from the Built-In section, click the predefined theme you want to choose for your document.

By cropping a picture, you can remove unwanted portions of the picture You can also crop a picture by clicking the Picture Styles Dialog Box Launcher on the Picture Tools Format tab. In the Format Picture dialog box that opens, you can specify the width and height to which the picture must be cropped and positioned

Most of the documents that you work on will include text along with some pictures. When you insert a picture in a document, by default, it is placed in line with the text— the picture is inserted at the specified location, and the rest of the text continues after the picture

The Save As options allows the user to save the document in a different file format. The Default file format for MS Word 2010 is the MS Word file format. The extension for the default MS Word file format is.docx. Files can also be saved in many other formats including Word template format, PDF, Web page format, and Rich Text File.
