+ General Guidelines Food or drink should not be stored next to your laptop or other handheld device. Cords, cables, and removable storage devices must be inserted and removed carefully. Never carry a laptop while the screen is open. Transport laptops and portable devices in a padded case. Laptops must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not the property of District 39. It is recommended to shutdown/restart your laptop and electronic devices on a daily basis.

+ Screen Care Do not lean on the top of the laptop when it is closed. Do not place anything near the laptop that could put pressure on the screen. Do not write on paper placed on top of the laptop cover. Do not place anything in the carrying case that will press against the cover. Do not poke the screen. Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (e.g. pens, pencils, or CDs). Clean the screen by spraying a non-abrasive cleaner such as iKlear directly on a microfiber cloth and then gently wiping the screen. Avoid spraying the screen directly. Do not use water to clean the laptop.

+ Security & Safety Back up your documents on a regular basis to an external storage device or a District 39 network account. Store equipment in a secure place and do not leave the equipment unattended. Do not leave equipment in an unsecured office, classroom, or automobile. Avoid storing equipment in extreme heat or cold weather conditions. Never allow friends or family members to use district equipment because it may contain sensitive or confidential information.
