Definition TENSE: basically means time

Present Tense = Today

The present tense NEVER has a helping verb!

To form the present tense, use the base form of the verb.

Past Tense = Yesterday (has already happened)

The past tense never has a helping verb.

To form the past tense, add an –ed ending to the base form of the verb.

Future Tense = Tomorrow (time that has yet to occur)

The future tense requires a helping verb.

Helping Verbs for Future Tense 1. shall (typically used with “I” or “we”) 2. will

To form the future tense, add will or shall before the base form of the verb.
