2 WORDS TO STUDY (no parts of speech on quiz) All 20 words from unit 6 need to be studied! AB = away from RE = back, again AL = movement to ART = skill GEN = kind (nice or type) PRE = before ION = act OR process ONYM = word/name IVE = inclined to; quality of; that which HAB = have

3 AB= away from abduct abnormal absent ABASHED ( adj. participle = looks like a verb ) – embarrassed, ashamed

4 AL = movement to ALOOF (adj.) – standing apart from others (usually as a matter of choice), withdrawn.

5 ART = skill artist ARTICULATE (v.) – to pronounce distinctly; to express well in words. (adj.) to use language effectively; expressed clearly and forcefully.

6 GEN = kind (nice or type) generous GENIAL (adj.) – cordial, pleasantly cheerful or warm.

7 PRE = before ION = act OR process celebrat ion pre determinat ion PREMONITION (n.) – forewarning or foreboding of a future event.

8 IVE = inclined to; quality of; that which TENT = hold RE = BACK, AGAIN attentive attractive expensive repulsive RETENTIVE (adj.) – able to hold, keep, or recall; retaining knowledge easily.

9 ONYM = NAME, WORD SYNONYM ANTONYM HOMONYM PSEUDONYM (n.) – a pen name, name assumed by a writer.

10 RE = back/again HAB = have habit REHABILITATE (v.) – to make over in good form; to restore to good condition or a former position
