GENERAL MEDICINE Uniform master’s degree study program ENROLMENT CRITERIA For the uniform master’s degree study program General Medicine can apply: a) who passes the “Matura examination” b) who has before June 1, 1995 finished any 4-year secondary school program. All candidates must have a level of knowledge of the Slovenian language at the C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As a fulfilment of this admission requirement a completed course of the subject of the Slovenian language at the baccalaureate or in the last year of a secondary school is taken into account when the lectures have been given, a certificate of a passed exam in the Slovenian language a the level C2 is taken into account or any other equivalent document as well. ENROLMENT POST 86 post Full-time study STUDY ON MF UM Duration of the study: 6 years or 12 semesters evaluated with 360 ECTS The studies will be carried out in the form of lectures, practical work, seminars and in individual forms. PROFESSIONAL TITLE : DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (MD)

PLANING CHANGES IN CURRICULUM In 1 st year: we combined Biochemistry and Chemistry – (9 ECTS: 2 ECTS Chemistry, 7 ECTS Biochemistry) Implementation of subject: Methods of research work in medicine and Medical Statistics (4 ECTS) In 2 nd year: Implementation of subject: Evidence based medicine – (4 ECTS) Epidemiology Public Health Social Medicine Medical informatics – E-health, Medical Statistics (3 ECTS) In 3 rd year: Movement of Pathology – special pathology (6 ECTS) from 4 th year to 3 rd year 16

In 4 th year Movement of Psychiatry and Neurosurgery from 5 th to 4 th year In 5 th year: Movement of Oncology from 6 th to 5 th year, Oncology is combined with Palliative medicine – (6 ECTS) Pediatrics is extended with clinical genetics and pedopsychiatry – (16 ECTS) In 6th year: Implementation of subject: Evidence based medicine (3 ECTS): Health and Economy Patient´s safety Health quality Implementation of new obligatory optional subject: Clinical work on department by student's choice – (3 ECTS) Implementation of module: Obstetrics and Pediatrics – (8 ECTS) 17

ADVANTAGES OF THESE CHANGES Learning outcomings are: student is familiar with scientific journals, clinical decision making system, research articles, scientific publications, statistical methods, epidemiological methods, types of epidemiologic studies, Graduates must be able to analyze data with statistical methods, using basic statistic methods, evaluated statistical report, must be familiar with library information system, MEDLINE, COCHRANE, SCOPUS, electronic books, etc.. 18

Learning outcomes are also using information systems, health care classification system, With Information technology: like virtual patient in medical education ( in Maribor we use MedU system – Web 2.0), for the development of so called decision support systems, etc.. 19

CONCLUSSION: Medical education must be science based, Medical schools and hospitals must guarantee proper scientific education, EU directive (2015/55/EU – automatic recognition of professional qualification) in a now more guaranteed limitless practice for physicians in EU, Due to security of patients care in EU, it must be changed. Nowadays it is necessary to define common quality standards for medical education by EU agency. 20
