The National Board accepts IMIA, ATA and RID CEUs. The ATA and RID CEUs must be for workshops, conferences and events that are related to medical interpreting knowledge and professional development. The National Board can accept CEUs from other organizations besides the above list, as long as the certificate clearly states the number of CEUs or contact hours earned.

Once you pass the written exam, courses you take between then and passing the oral exam can count towards your CEUs, such as conference attendance and IMIA webinars. What if I have not earned enough CEUs and my deadline is close? You may apply for a six-month extension. I would like to know if a course I took recently will be accepted. You may submit course information for a determination, but CEUs will not be stored one at a time.
