1 Life on the Farm By: Holly Bloemer Presented for Kindergarteners

2 What needs to be done on a Farm  Chores  Feeing/watering the animals  Plant the crops  Harvest the crops  Cleaning the barns and pens

3 Cows…..  Most farms in this area have feeder cows or milking cows.  There are many different types of cows.  Holstein  Jersey Baby cows are called Calves

4 Pigs…..  Types of pigs  Mother pig – sow  Father pig – boar  Baby pigs – piglets This is where pork products come from.

5 Horses  They can be used for riding or pulling a wagon.  Mother horse – Mare  Father horse – Stud  Baby Horse - colt

6 Sheep or Goat  We use the wool from the sheep to make sweaters or lining in some coats.

7 Chickens…  Roosters make a crowing sound in the mornings.  Chickens lay eggs for us to eat.  A mother chicken – Hen  A Father chicken – Rooster  A Baby chicken - chick

8 Dogs….. The dog is man’s best friend. They help protect the farm. Dogs also help round-up animals when they are loose.

9 Cats…..  There are many types of cats Cats help keep unwanted guest away
