9 9 Amazon Rainforest - Half of the rainforest in the world is in the Amazon region. –Receives 9 feet of rain/ year! –Flood season: water rises 30-45 feet! –Water from Amazon River drains into this rain forest. –Covers ½ of Brazil! –500 mammals, 475 reptiles species, and one third of the world's birds live here –It is home to about 30 million insect types. –Large variety of life is due to different layers that are perfect for different species.
