Description Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Perissodactyla Family: Equidae Sub family :Equine Length: 86.6 inches Height 4ft 6in. Weitgh: Males: 700lb’s Females:570 lb’s The markings are black and white stripped.

Habitat/Diet They live in Africa. There habitat is in grasslands. They do not eat meat the are herbivores. They eat hay grass shrubs and leaves

Family life/ Social behavior They can have up to 2 babies at a time. They are pregnant for about 12.5 months. They take care of there young until there young matures which is about 3 years of age. They will stay in there social bond for more than a month then look for a new one.

Characteristics They can be mean animals if they feel endangered by a pray. They go in groups more then 1,000 individuals. Life span is about 20-30 years. Zebras will kick and bite if they feel they are being harmed.

History/ Present status In 1907 they would make zebras carrie carriages around. Some people hunt zebras for there skin and meat. The population has increased to about 700 due to conservation efforts.

Relashinships to humans We are not allowed to hunt zebras but some people still do for skins. We ruin there habitat by environmental issues.

FUN FACTS! Zebras have excellent eyesight, hearing and a keen sense of smell. It is believed that zebras see in color. They can run up to 40 miles per hour. The Mountain Zebra is the smallest species of zebra.
