1 Home and Abroad in Europe Second Meeting between partner schools IPTA Porto, 24 -28 February 2009

Walking tours in Porto Visit of the IPTA school premises and introduction to the specific character of teaching/learning in this vocational institution.

5 Teachers Meetings Meetings Scheduled by Cristina Bastos Chaired by the coordinator of the project. All participating teachers were present at the meetings. Internet connection and projection made communication more efficient and helped to save time. Easy access to photocopying was convenient

6 Future Meetings Teachers agreed on the following future meetings: One in Germany between the 9-13 of November 2009, with regard to the work to be accomplished and up to the 15 th with regard to the maximum length of stay in Ahaus. One in Poland in April 2010 during the last week of the month. The dates will be decided at a later stage.

7 Tasks to be accomplished Communication on- line It has been agreed that email addresses of pupils in the respective schools will be exchanged between partner teachers. They will then be distributed to those pupils in their schools, interested in having a ‘pen friend ‘ from the partner schools. This will broaden the dimensions of communication between pupils within the project’s framework.

8 Modes of communication on line Through emailing on a one to one basis of communication. This allows communication to take place without being restricted by time constraints in the individual programmes of the pupils. Through SKYPE. This enables both written and spoken exchange while ensuring closer and more direct communication. Language learning is thus effectively enhanced. The Moodle platform for posting documents of a big volume.

9 Tasks to be accomplished Tasks to be accomplished Filming This task must be finished by the end of April 2009. It will have to be sent by the post to the appointed partner by the 30 th of April at the latest. Addresses have been exchanged to this end. The film will not be longer than 12 minutes or shorter than 10 minutes.

10 Technical details on the film The film must be of the same compression and the same format. A two layer dvd needs to be used for the film. One level will be for the compression, which will be CODEC and H.264.The film must be compressed from the beginning so as to enable the film to fit in the dvd. QUICKTIME must be used for the Format, which will be saved as.mov on the second level. The film has to be sent to the assigned partner in ‘ MOV’( QuickTime: Apple)

11 More details on the film Each partner must acquire skills on implementing text and sound of speaking narration to the film. Natural sounds can be removed by text writing teacher who will then work with own additions. The text will be produced in the form of subtitles and narration.The latter will be achieved with studio sound recording. Two programmes can be used for this task: Sony Vegas, for sound and video. It is recommended for the elaboration of sound and images. Adobe Premier is also possible to use for the same purpose. Audacity must be used for recorded sound.

12 More details on the film The narration can be as long as each partner wishes. As a consequence the music will be filling the gaps between the narration, or even used as a background. Furthermore the music can be produced by mixing various songs or pieces of music. There will be a clear storyboard The European Identity is to emerge in the film’s main theme.

13 The magic box There will be two types of Magic boxes: One for text writing and one for the music of the film. Both of them may include electronic and paper format. They may come on a usb stick or a dvd. This will enable affordable postage. The text magic box will be sent together with the silent film by the 30 April 2009.The music magic box will be exchanged with the texted film during the third meeting in Germany in November 2009.

14 Uploading material on a server If wished to send big volume material, students or teachers may first upload them to a server. www.mediafire.com/-38k www.firesend.net/-15k 3 to 4 different accounts may be created here. Material uploaded here may be downloaded by any recipients they are destined for.

15 Self –evaluation of this Comenius project Each Comenius project needs to be self – evaluated. Two questionnaires have been provided by the coordinator to the teachers One addressed to teachers and a second one to pupils. Also a checklist to be used for the questionnaires or interviews to be conducted for the self –evaluation of the project.

16 Self-evaluation of this project Furthermore, the teachers will work on MICE for a more detailed elaboration of this tool recommended in evaluating the project. Poland will prepare the questionnaire of 9 to 10 questions addressed to pupils. Germany will prepare the one to be addressed to teachers and will comprise 5 main questions.

17 MICE( continuation) Portugal will prepare the Q. aiming the effects on schools of this project. There will be five main questions,which can be subdivided in smaller parts. Cyprus will elaborate a questionnaire on the co-ordination of the project. Same number of questions as above. The last three questionnaires will be integrated parts of one questionnaire addressed to teachers.

18 Six main dates for MICE Six main dates for MICE 15 of March : Latest date to send the first questions to the coordinator. By the 22 nd March, the coordinator sends the partner teachers the two questionnaires. One for pupils prepared by Poland and one for teachers jointly prepared by Portugal, Germany and Cyprus. By the 24th of March, the partners reply and confirm or comment on the received documents. By the 26 March, the coordinator sends the final version of the questionnaires.

19 The dates for MICE Between the 20 th and the 26 th of April partners will send the processed results of their questionnaires, to the coordinator. By the 4 th of May, the coordinator sends to all partners his final report on the results jointly obtained by the questionnaires.

20 The next Meeting The next meeting will take place in Germany. The invitation has been already very heartedly made by the future host partners. It will extend from the 9 th to the 13 th /15 th of November 2009. Poland will take ten students, while Cyprus and Portugal will have to depend on winter offers of travelling by plane before deciding upon this issue.
