10 Objective: To engender interest and building research capacity of medical graduates Strategy: We are organizing research training for medical students through mentored projects that will be undertaken anytime during year 5 to 6 of their training

11 Objective: This has been proposed as research capacity building and retention strategy for residents and junior faculties. Strategy: We are organizing series of research training programs for residents, doctoral students and junior faculty in the teaching hospitals and Universities. 11

13  Bioethics training  Training on Responsible Conduct of Research ◦ Didactic using NIH curriculum ◦ On line CITI course ◦ Video produced on RCR with jointly with a NIH grant supplement ◦ The training programs are conducted as short term ranging from 24 to 30 hours of intensive workshop over 3 days period on each occasion ◦ Course materials available in hard copy, CD and MEPIN webpage 13

14 Objective: Research capacity development of junior Faculty members and post graduate students in our medical schools will help to motivate and development interest in academia Strategy: MEPIN is engaging junior Faculties and post graduate students in series of activities intended to make in-country career in academia attractive to them and enhance their productivity 14

15  First, through training of trainers by Faculties from US Partners from Northwestern University, Chicago and HSPH, Boston, USA  The training programs are conducted as intensive short term workshops, ranging from 24 to 30 hours of intensive workshop over 3 days period on each occasion.  Followed by step down sessions in the various MEPIN universities  Institutionalizing the courses using the same training manuals 15
