Global warming campaign By: Sara Orr, Brinley Goodwin
2
Definition of global warming – Global warming is a slow increase in temperature of earths atmosphere attributed to the green house effect.
3
Payment method – America and I will pay for this by creating a foundation called “Save the Earth” and all except 10% will go to paying for all this. The other 10% will go to research to help keep finding more ways to reduce global warming. – What changes will we the people see if we vote to approve your proposal?
4
Effects on animals – In 1999, the death of the last Golden Toad in Central America marked the first documented species extinction driven by climate change. – Due to melting ice in the Arctic, polar bears may be gone from the planet in as little as 100 years. – In the tropics, increased sea temperatures are causing more coral reefs to “bleach,” as the heat kills colorful algae that are necessary to coral health and survival.coral reefs – Several U.S. states may even lose their official birds as they head for cooler climate — including the Baltimore oriole of Maryland, black-capped chickadee of Massachusetts, and the American goldfinch of Iowa. – The pika has adapted to life in mountainous areas that rarely get above freezing andcan die when exposed to temperatures as mild as 78 degrees F. – Once they move upslope to reach the top and find the temperatures still too warm, the pika has no place else to go.
5
Effects on humans – Extreme heat. If high temperatures, especially when combined with high relative humidity, persist for several days (heat waves), and if nighttime temperatures do not drop, extreme heat can be a killer. – Natural" disasters. Projected changes in temperature and precipitation under global warming are likely to lead to other effects that threaten human health and safety. – Allergens and other nuisances. Warmer temperatures and higher concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere stimulate some plants to grow faster
6
Types of power we will be converting to – stop the harmful effects of global – All of these examples are renewable recourses that we will be converting to warming – To reduce global warming we will use eco-friendly cars, cut the burning of coal in half, and plant more trees/plants. – solar power – Wind power – Geothermal power – Hydroelectric power – And biomass power
7
Countries involved – China and Macedonia because they are the most polluted and China has expirence with this
