Good nutrition is getting the calories that we need for energy and the nutrients we need for correct growth. Variety, balance, and moderation are keys to good nutrition. 3 The healthy foods in the school canteens are believed to be able to affect the way students learn at school but how do the good nutrition in the foods affect the students? Good nutrition can affect the way students learn at school by helping the students’ brains work better because the foods provide nutrition to the students’ bodies and that can help them to think more clearly. A healthy body can provide the student a fresh and healthy brain, a healthy brain helps the student to concentrate and absorbs the knowledge. If the school canteens sell junk food containing fat and lack of good nutrition, the students’ health will decrease, their immune system will also become weak so they will get sick very easily. All the nutrients are good for the students but some are especially vital for their body development and learning. Iron is one of the vital nutrients because it is needed for healthy brain growth. Protein is also important for the students’ healthy growth, vitamins A and C support immunity and keep the students prepared and well to study. Calcium is vital to the growth of the bones and is also helpful to the brain’s development. Breakfast is something very important to a person for the whole day, enough nutrients in breakfast allows the student to stay awake during morning class time. Good nutrients throughout the three meals of a day help the students to learn better at school.

5 Students might not care about what might happen to them since they have only one life or even think that it’s just food and ignore people who go against them and eat whatever they want to eat. They could have conditions like depression that makes them eat to get the pain out of their mind, loving food which makes them want to eat a lot of food or they don’t care about their nutrition because they don’t believe the nutrition that people say until they see it happen. They might like the food they eat as well as the taste because we have many taste buds, we can taste bitter, sweet, savoury, sour, pungent, etc. They say that not everyone is the same and we all love to eat different foods even though they could contain fat and oils.

6 Many Australians suffer from poor nutrition; we commonly rely on fast foods for most of our meals. Even when we try to make healthier choices, we tend to make poor choices as not many are aware of how balanced nutrition works or what the recommended nutritional guidelines are. Poor nutrition can be the exceeded amount of calories consumed or below the average amount of calories grinded by an individual. Eating too much of one food group can be considered to be poor nutrition and to have a greater risk of developing diseases. This has a huge impact on the child’s family as they are responsible of the student’s health. The family are in control of paying the child’s fee to be cured. Poor nutrition can lead to nutritional diseases like, scurvy (lack of vitamin C) or loss of teeth.
