2. What is our role and how do we fund it? DLDC – exists to enhance the offer of Derbyshire's voluntary and community sector via training support and information. We deliver discretionary ‘public services’ as viable solutions – typically these add value to statutory services delivered by the public sector. Often we work in partnership with the public sector to add value and help communities. We access funding from national and local sources including Govt. programmes and Trusts and Foundations and the private sector. The discretionary funding streams enable us to add value to the work of our public sector partners.

3. Adding value to statutory services – an example Delivering pilot programme to support reduced admissions to high end services in hospitals via a volunteering in communities programme. Winter Friends will Impact on loneliness and isolation. The service is clearly additional to statutory provision. Outcomes of the project include influencing commissioners to invest in prevention and change the public’s use of health care services.

Securing Discretionary funding from other sources D2N2 - LEP and its thematic objectives – 7 year programme aligned with ESIF, opt ins from Big Lottery, DWP, SFA to support higher intevention Grants and Trusts – many of these including Royal Bank of Scotland - Women into enterprise, Lloyds TSB grant programmes
